What is Ovi Maps?

Ovi Maps is an internet service where you can browse places from all over the world and save them as your collections in your personal Ovi Maps account.

With Ovi Maps you can:

  • Save your favourite places and routes (requires an Ovi account).
  • Search for addresses and different points of interest, for example, restaurants, hospitals, and airports.
  • Discover cities and countries around the world with different views, for example, satellite or 3D views.
  • Synchronise your favourite places from your compatible mobile device with the collections in your Ovi account.
  • See the weather forecast for different regions around the world.

You don’t need to download or install anything to use Ovi Maps. However, for a more complete Ovi Maps experience, we suggest installing the Ovi Maps browser plugin. You can download the plugin directly from maps.ovi.com.

Is your mobile device compatible with Ovi Maps?

To synchronise places between Ovi Maps and your mobile device, your mobile device needs to have the Nokia Maps 3.0 software installed.

To download the Maps 3.0 software, see www.nokia.com/maps. You can also find information on which devices are supported.

What are the system and browser requirements for using Ovi Maps?

To use Ovi Maps, you must have one of the following:

  • Microsoft Windows XP: Internet Explorer 6 or 7, or Mozilla Firefox 3 or 3.5.
  • Microsoft Windows Vista: Internet Explorer 7, or Mozilla Firefox 3 or 3.5.
  • Macintosh MacOSX: Safari 3 or 4.
  • The preferred browsers are Internet Explorer 7 or 8, Mozilla Firefox 3 or 3.5 or Safari for Macintosh.
  • Other browsers and operating systems are not currently supported.

You must have the administrative rights to install the Ovi Maps browser plugin on your compatible PC or Macintosh computer. To download the plugin, go to maps.ovi.com.

Are there any fees associated with Ovi Maps?

Ovi Maps is free of charge. However, fees may apply if you establish an internet connection to synchronise your compatible mobile device with Ovi Maps. Contact your network service provider for information about data transmission charges.

Can you access the Ovi Maps website on your mobile device?

No. You cannot currently access Ovi Maps through the browser on your mobile device, but you can synchronise places and routes from Ovi Maps with your compatible mobile device.

To synchronise places from Ovi Maps with your mobile device, your mobile device needs to have the Nokia Maps 3.0 software installed.
