Very soon you will find tweets spinning into Gold as today Twitter announced its New Business Model – Promoted Tweets : where business can buy their own way into conversations.

“Promoted Tweets,” will put ads on Twitter, first in search results by Tuesday afternoon and later in user feeds both on Twitter.com and the myriad third-party clients that access the service, such as TweetDeck, twhirl, TwitterBerry and Tweetie, the last of which was just acquired by Twitter last week.

First you will see Tweets promoted by Twitter’s partner advertisers that include Best Buy, Bravo, Red Bull, Sony Pictures, Starbucks, and Virgin America called out at the top of some Twitter.com search results pages. They will also take care to measure whether the Tweets resonate with users and stop showing Promoted Tweets that don’t resonate.

Promoted Tweets will be clearly labeled as “promoted” when an advertiser is paying, but in every other respect they will first exist as regular Tweets and will be organically sent to the timelines of those who follow a brand. Promoted Tweets will also retain all the functionality of a regular Tweet including replying, Retweeting, and favoriting. Only one Promoted Tweet will be displayed on the search results page.

This is all about Promoted Tweets as published on Twitter Blog. Now the next very curious question is What will be the next step twitter is going to take to give a boom to its growth in monetary facets.

I think twitter may go with any one of the below mentioned models -

Promoted Retweets

Very Similar to Promoted tweets Twitter can come up with Promoted Retweets, where a user will pay a certain amount to get his tweet popular with a huge number of retweets.

A Freemium Model

Twitter can come up with a freemium which will allow Advertisers to advertise free for a period (for an example say 2 weeks) and then it will charge for continual of the service.

An Advertising Model

Where twitter can come up with advertisements on banners or text like Google, Yahoo and many other services.

A Subcription Model

Which will enable advertisers to pay a monthly/yearly fees and their recent activities will come in timeline of every tweeple.

A Virtual Goodies Model

May be a way through which users can send goodies to their loved/dear ones on special occasions like birthday, anniversary etc

.

If you have any other idea or model to suggest it to twitter, Please feel free to add it as comment.
